Ryan Berner, of Coplay, PA, passed away in May 2002 after a long battle with cancer at 8 years old. He is a long-time friend to the Penn State Phi Kappa Tau chapter and his family will always be in our hearts. For the past 3 years, Ryan and his family were heavily involved in the Penn State Dance Marathon; the world's largest student-run philanthropy. The PSU Dance Marathon has raised over $20 million since 1973 for the Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center. KICKS 4 KIDS 2002 was dedicated in memory of Ryan. During the tournament, Ryan was initiated as an honorary fraternity member of Phi Kappa Tau and his parents were presented with his certificate of membership. Even though Ryan did not benefit from the Hole In The Wall Gang Camps, it is children like Ryan that this charity benefits. To donate to the Ryan Berner Memorial Fund, please contact Dawn Berner.
