Kicks 4 Kids first organized a soccer tournament in Hershey, Pennsylvania in July of 2000. A group of Penn State fraternity brothers who had extensive experience as soccer players, coaches and referees ran the tournament as a fundraising event for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camps, one of the designated charities for their national chapter.
Now known as the Hershey Invitational, the event has been held annually for the last 11 years. It has grown from 4 teams in 2000 to over 220 teams annually.
In 2006 a second tournament, the Penn State 8 v 8, was added. The Penn State 8 v 8 appears to be on track to match the Hershey Invitational’s growth. The 2006 tournament had 4 teams and now annually hosts over 100 teams, growing every year.
In February of 2007 the organization filed Articles of Incorporation with the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In January of 2008 Kicks 4 Kids received official status as a 501(c)(3) by the United States Internal Revenue Service.
October of 2011 marked another milestone for Kicks 4 Kids with a third tournament to be hosted in Erie, PA at the Family First Sports Park.
